I’m an HR professional in International Programs at CSU and have made Fort Collins my home for the last four years. My work at CSU has been incredibly rewarding; our immigrant communities are vibrant and resilient. I’m also a proud member of the COWINS union, and serve on CSU’s Classified Personnel Council to help represent state employees’ interests within the university and through lobbying State Representatives in the Legislative Committee.

My background is in nonprofits. I began my career working for DeKalb County in Atlanta, GA. I’ve spent several years working on administering grants and developing robust volunteer programs across the country. Paying close attention to budget concerns and making volunteering accessible to people of all socioeconomic backgrounds.

I moved to the United States for the first time during the pandemic, having been raised by an immigrant family (American and Syrian) in Canada. I fell in love with Fort Collins because this is the first place I’ve felt I could put down roots in the US. I love the community that I’ve become a part of over the years but, like many people my age living in Fort Collins, I’m being priced out of the city. I can’t afford to have children, buy a home, or retire here in the community that I live in. I’m running for City Council to make sure that people like me have the option to stay in Fort Collins.

My main goals in Council will be to raise the minimum wage, expand efforts to make housing affordable in Fort Collins, protect and advocate for vulnerable communities, and improve the path to unionization for workers in Fort Collins.

My priority is making sure that the people who work in Fort Collins are able to live in Fort Collins; that no one is priced out of their home and that as the city develops, we’re not leaving people behind.

This is a completely grassroots campaign run by community volunteers. We’re all fighting for the future we want here in Fort Collins.

Consider donating to our campaign; even 5 dollars makes a huge difference in helping us achieve a more affordable city.
